Regional Railways was one of a tercet rider sectors of British Rail created in the 1980s which existed until privitisation in the 1990s. A sector was originally known as Provincial, & ran regional non-express services.

A more rider regions created in the 1980s were InterCity (express services) and Network SouthEast (principally London commuter services).

Regional Railways was a virtually all subsidised (by the rider klick) of the deuce-ace sectors.

Sprinterisation

Regional Railways' independent work was a sprinterisation of the body sequentially to reduce costs. Older railway locomotive hauled trains were replaced by freshly Diesel multiple units (DMUs) in both big groups of classes. A number 1, Pacers, were modified buses and assigned TOPS numbers in the 14X range. Sprinters were assigned amounts in the 15X range, they were according to a Mk3 (Chlorine 150-156) & Mk Four (Chlorine 158) coaches.
